Biography

Gerrit Van Blaricom was born near Hacksensack, New Jersey in 1707, to Pieter Janse and Jacomynthe (Cornelis) Van Blarcom. He was baptized in the Hackensack Reformed Dutch Church on November 2. He married Hillegont Ackerman around 1734. He appears to have moved to the Paramus area between 1751 and 1754. Virtually nothing else is known about his life, although he was the first in his lineage to use the surname Van Blaricom. It is assumed that he remained around Paramus for the rest of his life. His last son was born in 1761.
